Does what it says on the tin, but you'll still feel cheated.
Bought this for my 3 year old 500 to work with my iphone 3GS.
What can I say, a few bugs but it works pretty well. However I do feel upset that Fiat charges so much for this. Just because us loyal Fiat owners have no choice but to get this if we want our idevices to work with Blue&Me, Fiat feels like they should take advantage. There is no reason to justify £75 except for pure greediness.

Expensive for what it is but really useful
I purchased this item as my three year old Punto does not have the capability to play my iPhone / iPod via the system. Indeed as they are formatted via a Mac I was wondering if I could ever use a system that I paid extra for. I was not happy that Blue and Me is a Windows based system only. But then I came upon this adapter and decided to try it. The cost is a little steep, but as always you have no choice but to buy it as a Fiat exclusive so I guess they can charge what they like and get away with it. Having said this I am actually blown away by this item. I had to download the Blue and Me update from the Fiat website and transfer it via a USB to the care system, and once done it's simple to get up and running. As soon as I connected the adapter it recognised the Mac formatted iPhone / iPod straight away including MP3 / AAC and the sound quality is excellent. But more than that it will play radio stations via my iPhone apps via the 3G network. So now I have even more choice of radio from all over the world. In summary an excellent piece of kit.

Have a read please!!!
1 This adaptor is not essential all it does it convert the apple media file into MP3 format so the windows system can read the music saves you having to convert them manually at home on your PC! Anyone with a bit of computer bonce can convert the apple files to MP3 on itunes, problem solved!
2 The reason it doesnt and probably never will come as standard with all blue and me systems is because not everyone owns an Iphone! so would be a bit silly realy! Plus fiat had alredy produce blue and me before the Iphone was rolling in the shops.
3 It IS Apples problem because there media files are NOT mp3 which is what the windows media can read! And no other phone with media capabilitys has this problem only Apple products.
4 The reason fiat dont use AUX for you to plug your ipod/iphone in is because they are thinking safely ie when you use the system properly and your ipod/iphone is plugged in you will never have to remove your hands from the steering wheel or turn your head to select your next track!
5 The reason not all your music shows up on the dash is because of the same reason as before some of the music hasnt been converted to MP3.

Remember this is Apple
The system is expensive only because the software required to run Iphone and Ipod is copyrighted by Apple If you want any of thier stuf you have to pay. This is why Blue&me struggles with compatibility. Both will work with the syatem but the tracks have to be stored in MP3 format. How many times does this have to be mentioned? The converter uses Apple software to allow the system to read other files that Apple have not made general release. A Windows based system will always have issues ( try connectimng an Apple computer to a normal PC without conversion software) The issue lies with Apple being tight with thier technology NOT with a system designed for the masses. Overall a good product but unless Apple get on board with car manufacturers this will always be difficult.

Fantastic, works really well
I ordered the Blue&Me adaptor to use my iPOD touch 3rd generation in a 500C. While I was waiting the 2 days for delivery I tried to update the software in my Fiat to 5.4 but kept getting error messages (error msg10). I didn't need to worry though, I plugged connected the adaptor and bingo its works brilliantly. Highly recommended.

Great if you know how to use the product..
What you have to remember is the Blue&Me system is developed and produced by Windows not Apple, so connectivity is difficult and would never be marketed to work with an i-pod. Only a dealer who is not up to date would tell customers such a thing!
The adapter will work with version 5.4 and do not assume that because your car is "NEW" it will automatically have the updated version of blue&Me software installed as some cars are built up to 12 months before actually sold. As for the price, you either pay the £80, to allow your £300 phone to play music on the system, or you just don't bother and buy a £10 memory stick and leave that in your car rather than an expensive ipod..?
The bluetooth side works very well with iphone and most nokias, except n-series. Blackberry's are quite fussy with message reader and the phonebook compatibility. all you need to do is just be patient with fiat and the updates. if you have ever used a BMW or Audi system these are terrible, Blue&Me is very good!
An aux connection was not used as this system is also designed as a safety system i.e you do not have to take your hands from the steering wheel to change track. and it does not come as standard because of the reasons i stated earlier, its a WINDOWS based system.

Too expensive for something that should be standard
Although the product works fine in my car for music and making calls, I still can't get it to read my text meassages?!?! (Fiat 500), I did have to go through the faff of having to upgrade the software on the car and then had to wait nearly TWO months for Fiat to deliver my order!! feel a bit conned though as it was a lot of money for something which I think should come as standard with the blue and me system.

What is the point
I can't get playlists to work with it. So it plays tracks in order. This is the same for my MP3 Player. It takes ages to scroll through tracks. Solution is to have very little on ones iPod which defeats the object of an iPod/MP3 player.
The AUX in is the best solution but I take the point that it is a safety issue, this needs to be hands free.
Solution is for Fiat to upgrade software so it can deal with playlists as default.

Have to take car in for 2nd time because of it.
Having left what I thought was a bad review already it's getting worse. Got the adapter for half a year and a few weeks ago it stopped working. Had to take car to FIAT, who admitted they don't know what went wrong, but they had to reset the system. And other customers had it before. Now guess what. It happened again today, now they want my car with my leads and with MY iPod for at least a couple of hours. Courtesy car in earliest 2 week's time available, me late for work, lots of unnecessary miles on my car, etc. etc. not impressed. And to whoever said that not everyone has an iPhone: iPhone, iPod, iPad! Yes, EVERYONE has got one of them. Except you. My first and last FIAT. Back to VW next time.

Poor quality accessory
When I opted to purchase the Blue&Me ipod adaptor, I was expecting something of a higher standard. The adaptor is not well-made and is complete rip-off for the price! Mine has already come apart and the circuit board has detached itself, so is basically only ready for the bin! Which is a big disappointment. I wouldn't recommend any of Fiat's accessories, they are cheap and not long-lasting.

It's not Apple's problem, it's Fiat's
As usual Fiat have made a hash of the design. Other car manufacturers have a very simple solution to this problem, an aux jack input socket. The Ipod can then be easily connected using a double-ended jack lead from the Ipod headset socket to the input jack on the radio/CD player. However, Fiat have chosen to go for an expensive dongle option to make them more money. It has nothing to do with Apple.

Worst piece of kit. Ever
This is bad. Very. It shouldn't cost more than £2 or £3 for what it is. To me it looks like someone sabotaged a good idea.
- lots of clicks on steering wheel necessary to get current track name displayed!
- artist name or album name is not displayed!
- song length (time remaining or played) is not displayed!
- contents of playlists can't be scanned! you have to listen to a playlist from its beginning and then forward song by song ....
- you can't rate a song while it's playing!
- you can't create an 'on-the-go' playlist while it's connected (we used to do this a lot while travelling with an iTrip).
- to top it all up the screen of the iPod also only shows you the song title and the artist name. No mention of the album or the song length.
Easily the worst piece of IT kit I ever came across. Very disappointing Fiat.
How about a free software update that sorts all of the above problems?

Why pay a penny for the Adaptor??? they should give it away with all new cars
I just use the same connecting adaptor white lead that you plug into your computer to either charge or down load tracks albans, songs etc...
You can also go up and down to change tracks by your steering wheels arrow button....£78.00 they should give it away with all new cars...how tight do have to be...it cost them pennies....or have i missed something??????

DO NOT BUY if you have Blue&Me Nav
I have just purchased a new Fiat 500 Abarth and was very excited to get the iphone adaptor to enable me to play all the songs stored on my 3G iphone.... collected new car on friday, plugged in adapter and iphone and NOTHING.... technician at Fiat dealership said he needed to reconfigure the software so back went the car today.... after much time and head scratching and a few calls to Fiat headquarters, they decided that the adapter DOES NOT WORK at all if you have the Sat Nav option installed on the Blue&Me system.
Nobody at the Fiat dealership was aware of this and I have found no info about this on the Fiat websites so I am a bit annoyed at having forked out £80 for something that is useless in my car.... had I been told in advance I would not have had the Sat Nav option, I would rather listen to my tunes.... am very annoyed so beware

Should be part of standard equipment
Very shoddy that an adapter to make the most popular media player work is an extra 80 quid.
An basic auxillary connection would be far more use than the USB connection
